what is the best program to go thru for debt consolidation?

Would a National Sales Tax dedicated to paying that portion that employers pay for their employees who are citizens or permanent alien residents who are employed in the United States make sense? Would it give incentive for the employers to stay in the United States instead of going over seas? Would it not give a greater base to draw upon to support Social Security and Medicare because of the increased employment here at home? And with anything that is left over shouldn’t it be applied to paying down the National debt?

consolidation but charges a $40 fee. They also do credit counseling (which I don’t need.) I just need to lower my monthly payments because of high interest. I don’t want a service like credit conseling to effect my credit score. Any response would be appreciated. I definately don’t need any credit counseling as much of my debt was accrued through phenomenal interest. I just want to have one payment a month with the lowest possible interest.

I have old medical bills that have been turned over to collection agencies. I have a few that add up to about $7,000. I don’t have that kind of money to pay them. I’ve heard that you can talk them down to paying only a portion of what you owe, but that it doesn’t help your credit score anyway. Is that true? Should I try to do that or wait until they drop off my credit report in just a couple more years?

I’m looking to purchase a new home, but my husband and I have about $25,000 in debt. My husband makes decent money and we have a condo we have to sell and would make about $30,000 in profit. Can we use a portion of that money to pay down our debt and use the other portion to purchase a new home?

I went through a toll here in Colorado, there was nobody manning the booth and no forms to submit payment later. Admittedly i forgot all about it, and here it is a year later and a debt collector is leaving messages on the main voicemail at work, with the administrative staff forwarding messages from them to me after hearing them. My debt is now 145 bucks, which i would have payed had they not harassed me at work. What are my legal outlets? They did not budge either on trying to negotiate it down.
